SCRAMP Green Lights Mazda Partnership for Five More Years

Mazda has always had racing in their blood. One of the partnerships that has kept stoking the racing flame at Mazda is the one with the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP). Mazda and SCRAMP have, in the past, claimed rights to the world famous natural road-racing track on the Monterey Peninsula. Lucky for racing fans, they have extended that partnership for another five years.

The track was previously known as the Laguna Seca Raceway and will now be referred to as the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca until 2016. The track is home to both car racing and motorcycle racing.

Not only does Mazda get to continue branding itself at the track, but employees have really taken to the place. Mazda employees who have a passion for racing have come to think of the track as a second home.

John Pinio, Monterey County Director of Parks, echoes this sentiment saying, "The County receives a tremendous boost from Mazda's ongoing participation in the facility."1 Specifically that participation includes improving raceway conditions and facilitating expansions. Over the past decade Mazda has helped to widen track runoff areas, enhance spectator monitors, build permanent pit lane garages, and create permanent luxury hospitality suites.
